- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the most beneficial diet for patients with diverticulosis. Based on case control studies and a large prospective cohort study, a diet rich in fruit and vegetable fiber and low in red meat and fat may be beneficial in decreasing the risk of symptomatic diverticular disease. No studies have been evaluated on the efficacy of the avoidance of seeds and nuts in the treatment of diverticulosis. Acute diverticulitis is treated with a low-fiber diet and clear liquids during the exacerbation.
