- Abstract
The article discusses how the marine environment is chemically diverse as it is biologically. It reports that bio-prospectors have turned up more than 15,000 novel chemical compounds from marine creatures since they first began plumbing the oceans for their genetic treasures 25 years ago. Andrew Mearns-Spragg, founder of Great Britain's first marine biotechnology company Aquapharm BioDiscovery, has developed a library of over 6,000 organisms which are primarily sourced in the waters of Great Britain.
