- Abstract
This article discusses the work of poet and author Thomas Disch, who specialized in writing science fiction. Some comments that Disch made about imagination and science fiction are analyzed by the author as his book "334," which is a futuristic novel about the effects of overpopulation on the U.S. The impact that aging had on Disch physically and emotionally is discussed because his behavior towards the end of his life became more erratic and combative. Disch killed himself on July 4, 2008 because he was ill and faced being evicted from his New York City apartment.
