- Abstract
The article focuses on a study related to the identification of des-methyl-1-(3,5-dichloro-2,6-dihy-droxy-4-methoxyphenyl) hexan-1-one (DIF-1) methyltransferase in Dictyostelium purpureum. As per the study, DIF-1 induces prestalk and stalk cell formation and was synthesized by enzymes including hybrid polyketide synthase and halogenase. The study further concludes that stalk-inducing signal of DIF-1 and des-methyl-DIF-1 methyltransferase are conserved in D. purpureum.
