- Abstract
The article focuses on the issue about managing agriculture and rural development for poverty reduction. It discusses that about three quarters of the world's poor live in rural areas which is often without adequate source of livelihoods. Rural poverty stems from different sources which includes limited economic opportunities and lack of access to social services, markets, basic assets, information, and political power. About 900 million people in rural areas do not have access to safe drinking water and about 2 billion people do not have access to improved sanitation.
