The article explores the impact of the 2021 U.S. Supreme Court case Mahanoy Area School District v. B.L. on student participation in extra-curricular activities and off-campus student speech. Topics discussed include brief details of the case which concerns the First Amendment rights of students off-campus, the way the case challenged previous student speech-related cases such as the 1969 Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District, and the response of educators to the case.
