- Abstract
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the production of two basil cultivars (Grecco a Palla and Alfavaca Basilicão) under different plant spacings using treated domestic effluents in hydroponic systems (NFT and DFT). The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse from March to May 2015. The experimental design was completely randomized with four replications, in a 2x2x3 factorial scheme. Harvesting was performed at 30 and 45 days after transplanting (DAT) and the variables evaluated were: plant height (PH), stem diameter (SD), shoot fresh mass (SFM), productivity per linear meter (PSFM), shoot water content (SWC) and water consumption (WC). The small leaf basil (Grecco a Palla) plants, in the studied periods, presented fresh mass higher than that of the broad leaf basil (Alfavaca Basilicão). The hydroponic cultivation systems (NFT and DFT) used did not show significant effects (p > 0.05) on growth and production variables, except for SD and WC at 30 DAT and SWC at 45 DAT. The spacing of 20 cm between the plants promoted higher productivity of SFM due to increased density.
