- Abstract
The article reports on a study regarding the observational data of summer monsoon rainfall over the Homogeneous Indian Monsoon region (HI) from 1880 to 2002. It relates how droughts occur during the El Niño events of the summer monsoon season. According to the author, sea surface temperature (SST) from Indian Ocean Dipole mode index (SSTDMI) and severe droughts over HI, which occurs during El Niño events. In the study, the author concludes that the strength of El Niño events and the severe droughts over HI during July have no relation. Tables and graphs regarding the study are included in the article.
