Considering the politics of authorship associated with the history of the anti-colonial struggle and with its relations to French cinema, this article approaches the anti-colonialist film Afrique 50 (1950). Distinguishing between film as product and as process, I address the problem of authorships under erasure in the documentary associated with René Vautier's authorial signature.
