The article presents an attempt to apply the principles of ecocriticism to mathematical texts, focusing on an analysis of numbers. Discussed is the ontology of mathematical objects, with attention given to the supposed spatial, temporal, and causal qualities of numbers. The perception of numbers as natural phenomena and not as human constructs and its influence on culture and literature are also explored.
