- Authors
STREIFFER, ROBERT
- Abstract
The article discusses a review of the consent forms signed by those who donated embryos for the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH)-approved embryonic stem cell lines which reveals several problems, providing ethical as well as scientific reasons to overturn the U.S. government's restrictions on federal funding for stem cell research. It explains the importance of informed consent. The two categories of the problems with the consent forms are cited. It highlights the National Academy of Sciences' 2005 Guidelines and 2007 Amendments.
