- Abstract
The article discusses a study related to the type of karyopherin protein that regulates the permeability of the nuclear pore complex during nuclear transport, and discusses the functions of importin beta and RanGTP. Topics include transport of inert cargos and formation of multivalent complexes. The study concludes that the interaction between importin beta and NUP153 proteins at the face of nuclear core complex forms a Ran-regulated mesh, which in turn modulates the permeability.
