This document is a summary of a special issue titled "The Adaptability of Residential Planning and Design to World-Changing Events." The issue focuses on the impact of events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, armed conflicts, seismic events, and the climate crisis on residential planning and design. The issue includes fifteen original studies conducted by researchers from various countries, covering topics such as the impact of the pandemic on residential spaces, the design of apartment spaces in response to challenges, the integration of technology in smart homes, the spread of COVID-19 within urban areas, and the need for sustainable and energy-efficient housing. The studies emphasize the importance of innovation, adaptation, and sustainability in creating resilient and environmentally conscious buildings, neighborhoods, and cities.
