- Abstract
The article presents a case study of an 86-year-old active smoker female with upper respiratory tract infection. Examinations showed submucosal prominence of the pharyngeal wall that obstructed the laryngeal inlet, and mild edema of the false vocal folds, and the patient was diagnosed with diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (DISH). She deferred surgery and was treated with dexamethasone and ibuprofen, and remained at her baseline respiratory status at a 2-month follow-up.
