- Abstract
The study aimed at investigating the effect of using the social media (youtube, twitter, whatsup, instagram) in teaching science and on developing academic achievement and deductive thinking among seventh grade female students in the city of Mecca Almukramah. To achieve the aims of the study the researcher used the quasi-experimental approach. The participants of the study were (23) female students for the experimental groups and (20) female students for the control group. The instruments of the study were achievement test, deductive thinking scale, and they were psychometrically checked. And were applied on the participants. The data was analyzed using different statistical methods such as Kolmogorov-Smirnovz test, t-test, Ancove, Means, modified means and eta-square. Some of the most important results were that social media means had a positive effect in developing academic achievement and deductive thinking also it proved a positive correlation between achievement and deductive thinking, in light of these results a number of recommendations were presented: employing special media in teaching science specifically and the different cognitive areas by the teachers.
