- Title
Funding Retirement: The Future Is Now.
- Authors

- Abstract
Overshadowed by many anxieties is the one issue that will almost guarantee that many workers will not live as well as their parents: the failure of many Americans to adequately plan for and fund their retirement. As of 1996, over 40 million workers are covered in part or entirely by a defined contribution pension plan, in which they solely are responsible for saving and investing to fund their retirement. These plans are being created at over times the rate of the old-style defined benefit plans. For defined contribution plans to have a real chance of successfully providing retirees the financial security in retirement that they expect, employees must be made to understand the consequences that the decisions they make today will have on their lives tomorrow.
