Abstract
The article focuses on the global census project for marine life, which found 300-500 new species. According to Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) chief executive officer (CEO) Ian Poiner, 167 Australian scientists joined the 2700 colleagues from 80 countries to conduct the census. It mentions the largest data repository for marine species created by the census, recording 30 million marine life. Senator Kim Carr says that he was proud of the Australian scientists' research work.
