- Abstract
The article reports on the proposal by the British Food Standards Agency (FSA) to ban placenta-based products, as of August 2014. Topics covered include the launch of hygiene emergency prohibition notices, the health risks posed by the products, and the confirmation by the FSA that it is unlawful to market or sell human placenta and human placenta-based products. Requirements to continue the marketing of foods containing human placenta in the European Union are mentioned.
