- Title
INFLUENCE OF DAMPING SUSPENSION ON THE VIBRATION EIGENMODES OF RAILWAY VEHICLES.

- Abstract
The dynamic performance of the railway vehicle, mainly the rolling comfort, strongly depends on the level of vibrations. The suspension, when its characteristics are properly adopted, has the ability to maintain the vibration behavior at a level that will provide the passengers with comfort, even though velocities increase. The vertical vibration eigenmodes, the bounce, the pitch and the bending of the carbody are essential for comfort. The paper proves that the level of the accelerations derived from these vibration eigenmodes is influenced by the extent of the suspension damping.
