- Abstract
The article discusses research methodologies and sources within the field of Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS). Particular focus is given to the author's research on Indian basketry and seasonal communities in coastal Maine. It is suggested that researchers can combine documentary sources with oral histories to understand the identities, experiences, and social networks of Native peoples. Interactions between tourists and Wabanaki basket makers are discussed.
