- Abstract
The article "Higher, faster, further - and yet not better? Developments in self-criticism in qualitative educational research" deals with self-criticism and developments in qualitative educational research. It argues that there is a lack of critical reflection and positioning, and that an increasingly affirmative reception of established procedures can be observed. The technologization of qualitative educational research is seen as ambivalent, as it promotes the expansion of qualitative methods on the one hand, but can restrict progress in knowledge on the other hand. The article calls for a self-critical discussion on the development of qualitative educational research and examines the advantages and disadvantages of optimization efforts. Various methods of qualitative educational research and their impact on methodology are discussed. The text also discusses the effects of digitization processes on qualitative educational research and raises questions about the media-connectedness of knowledge and future shifts and innovations in qualitative educational and biographical research.
