- Abstract
The article presents a study which evaluates the sleep patterns in elite female basketball athletes during major Australian competitions. It explains the importance of sleep as a basic requirement for human health and an important component of athlete recovery due to its physiological and psychological restorative effects. It implies that reduced sleep and poor sleep quality have been linked to the negative effects on athletic performance.
