- Title
Affordable Housing Policies in Egypt after the 2011 Revolution More of the Same?
- Authors
Sims, David
- Abstract
The article takes a look at the efforts of the Egyptian government to provide housing, following the 2011 revolution, and concludes that the results have been disappointing. There have been no legal reforms or innovative schemes to address housing affordability. Moreover, government's social housing schemes have largely stagnated, and it is unfair to assume that far-reaching and comprehensive housing sector reform would be achieved by the military or the Muslim Brotherhood governments.
