- Title
Response to "Anxious Academics: Mission Drift and Sliding Standards in the Modern Canadian University".
- Authors
CÔTÉ, JAMES; ALLAHAR, ANTON
- Abstract
In this article the authors of the book "Ivory Tower Blues: A University System in Crisis" respond to a review of that book written by Joseph Galbo. The authors criticise Galbo on the grounds that his review ignored the problem of grade and credential inflation in the University setting in Canada. Galbo's representation of the book's thesis as a pet theory rather than an analysis of the Canadian National Survey of Student Engagement. The authors maintain that the relationship between multiculturalism in the university and scholarly concern about declining standards do not have a straightforward relationship.
