- Abstract
Thanks to US, ovarian cyst diagnosis has becomed a common finding for pediatricians. Antenatal punction may improve prognosis of the largest anechogenic ovarian cysts. In case of torsion, oophorectomy should be avoided during emergency laparoscopy because of the possibility of late recovering of ovarian follicules. Presence of ovarian cysts with sexual development at prepubertal age couldmean either precocious puberty, or autonomous ovarian cysts as Mc Cune Albright syndrome, or secretant tumor. Functional ovarian cysts are the most common diagnosis, but RMI and tumors markers are necessary steps for persistant lesions. Because most of ovarian pediatric tumors are benign with high recurrence rate, ovarian sparing surgery may be considered. If malignant tumor is suspected, oncological surgery has to be performed following specific pediatric standards.
