Portrayal of Poverty: An International Non-Governmental Organization's Responsibility.
- Authors

- Abstract
We all have certain images and ideas that come to mind and guide our understanding of global poverty. These images come from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), who tailor their advertising to their donors in order to raise funds and awareness. This paper aims to illustrate the role NGOs play as experts in their field, the responsibility they have to their donors and those they aim to help and why it is important that they consider the way they represent poverty in the messages they advertise - specifically through their images.
