- Title
Justizsysteme im europäischen Vergleich.
- Abstract
The article "Justice Systems in European Comparison" reports on the Justice Barometer 2023 of the EU, which shows that the German justice system performs relatively well compared to other European countries. The average duration of proceedings in Germany is around 230 days, while it takes more than twice as long in France, Italy, and Croatia. The number of judges' positions also varies greatly between countries. Germany ranks in the middle with approximately 25 judges per 100,000 inhabitants. The report states that the efficiency of the justice system varies greatly among the individual member states and that significant efforts are still needed in many countries to strengthen citizens' trust in the judiciary. It is also pointed out that the use of digital technologies needs to be improved.
