- Abstract
This article, published in Clinical Pediatric Endocrinology, discusses a case of adrenal crisis (AC) in a young child with septo-optic dysplasia (SOD) during a trip. The patient, a 16-month-old Japanese child with SOD and intellectual disability, developed AC after a long-distance trip. The authors suggest that prolonged periods in unfamiliar environments during trips may be a potential precipitating factor for AC in susceptible individuals. They recommend considering prophylactic administration of a stress dose of hydrocortisone during trips to prevent AC. However, further research is needed to determine the effectiveness of this approach.
