- Abstract
Various neutral dipolar Ir(III), Pt(II) and Ru(II) complexes characterized by a high µβ 1.907 value, as determined by the Electric Field Induced Second Harmonic generation (EFISH) technique, show a large <βHLS,1.907>, as determined by the Harmonic Light Scattering (HLS) technique. A combination of both techniques is used to evaluate the dipolar and octupolar contributions to the total quadratic hyperpolarizability, putting in evidence that the major contribution is controlled by the octupolar part.
