- Abstract
The article deals with the necessity of adopting the legal standing of all aspects of the natural world within the framework of modern tribal governments in the U.S., as elaborated by legal scholar Christopher D. Stone of the University of Southern California in 1972. Several legal premises are cited by Stone including the extension of rights to new entities, the nature of the American legal system to grant rights to non-living entities, and the role of a guardian.
