Die positiven Eigenschaften, die durch eine Trifluormethylierung aromatischer Verbindungen erzielt werden, liefern die Motivation für die Entwicklung neuer Reagentien und Reaktionen zur Einführung von Trifluormethylresten zu einem sehr späten Zeitpunkt. In diesem Highlight wird die kürzlich entdeckte Sandmeyer ‐ Trifluormethylierung vorgestellt, bei der aromatische Amine als Substrate bei einer direkten Trifluormethylierung eingesetzt werden.
