- Title
Towards a Restorative Model of Criminal Justice.
- Authors
Donatiu, Paul
- Abstract
The article presents a perspective on issues regarding the implementation of the criminal justice system in Australia. The country's criminal justice system has developed in a way that reflects the community's perception of why crime occurs. However, there has been little acknowledgment of the effort of citizen's participation in unjust social structures that influence crime. Furthermore, Australians must move away from established notions of punishment and rehabilitation, and towards a restorative model of criminal justice based on reparation and reconciliation.
