The article discusses the proposed rejection of the name Areca glandiformis for a palm species. Topics discussed include the problem encountered with the interpretation of an early name in Areca, the characteristics of the species and the poor understanding of the palm flora of Maluku. Also mentioned is use of the name A. macrocalyx in standard palm literature.
