The article discusses proposals to amend the International Code of Nomenclature (ICN) for algae, fungi and plants which are accepted by the Melbourne Congress. The proposals include the legitimacy and illegitimacy of generic names, the subdivision of family, the basis of suprageneric names, and the deletion of suprageneric and generic names. Questions relating to the family name Proteacecae and Prote L. are mentioned.
