- Abstract
The article offers information on the naming of a fungus that causes a disease on Citrus known as melanose or stem end rot of mature fruit. According to Plant pathologists this fungus was famous by the name of Diaporthe citri or Phomopsis citri. It also discusses several facts related to the naming of the fungus which includes relationship between D. citri and D. medusaea, discovery of names by researcher namely Diaporthe citrincola and Phomopsis caribaea and priority given to earlier names.
