- Authors

- Abstract
The Jewish Museum Berlin opened a new permanent exhibition in August 2020, reflecting the complex history of Jews in Germany. The exhibition addresses topics such as the significance of the Hebrew language, the Jewish Middle Ages, the development of Jewish communities, and the threat of religious rejection. However, some statements in the exhibition are factually incorrect, such as the claim that German Jews were expelled to Eastern Europe. The exhibition showcases various aspects of Jewish history and culture, including works by Schachor, a Torah binder, and a map of the German Empire. It also explores the messianic movement around Sabbatai Zvi, the integration of the Jewish community in Berlin and Prussia in the 19th century, Nazi persecution and the Holocaust, as well as the Jewish community's engagement with the German state after the war.
