- Title
Genetic variation: Y variants tip the chromatin balance.
- Authors
Swami, Meera
- Abstract
The article discusses research being done on the contribution of Y chromosomes to phenotypic differences. It references the study "Epigenetic effects of polymorphic Y chromosomes modulate chromatin components, immune response, and sexual conflict," by B. Lemos, A. T, Branco, and D. L. Hartl in the August 23, 2010 issue of "Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences." It says that Drosophila melanogaster Y chromosome repeat sequences have contributed to Y chromosome heterochromatin variation.
