The authors discuss the results of the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT) funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health. They mention that the trial was well designed and executed as it involves hypertensive patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease, the knowledge that the SPRINT provides in the management of hypertension, and the adverse effects recorded in the SPRINT.
