【Objective】The effects of various fertilization combinations including nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P)and potassium(K)on yield and chemical composition of Abrus cantoniensis Hance were studied to provide reference for rational fertilization of cultivated A. cantoniensis.【Method】The 3414 experimental design was used in the fertilization test with no fertilization as control. The yield, total polysaccharides, total flavonoids, total saponins and total alkaloids of A. cantoniensis with different fertilizers were determined, regression analysis of yield and main chemical content and fertilizer amount was carried out.【Result】There were some differences in yield and chemical composition content among different treatments. The treatment 6(N 180.0 kg/ha,P2O5 75.0 kg/ha,K2O 75.0 kg/ha)had the highest yield(2046.8 kg/ha)of all the treatments, treatment 9(N 180.0 kg/ha,P2O5 75.0 kg/ha,K2O 37.5 kg/ha)had the largest total polysaccharide content( 2.940%),treatment 11(N 270.0 kg/ha,P2O5 75.0 kg/ha,K2O 75.0 kg/ha)had the largest total saponins content (1.915%),treatment 3(N 90.0 kg/ha,P2O5 75.0 kg/ha,K2O 75.0 kg/ha)had the largest total flavonoids(3.188%)and total alkaloid content(6.209 mg/g). Regression analysis showed that the suitable ratio of N∶P∶K was 1∶0.064∶0.135,the yield was increased under such condition. Single P fertilizer(69.2 kg/ha)was beneficial to increase the content of total flavonoids, single K fertilizer(55.4 kg/ha)was beneficial to increase the content of total alkaloids, and single N fertilizer (246.0 kg/ha)was beneficial to increase the content of total saponins.【Conclusion】The N,P and K fertilizers have different effects on the yield and chemical composition of A. cantoniensis, and reasonable application is beneficial to improving yield and quality of A. cantoniensis.
