- Abstract
The objective of this study was to determine the correlation between lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), tartrate resistant acis phosphatase (TRAP) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity with total enzyme presence in gingiva crevicular fluid (GCF) during orthodontic treatment respectively using statistical anlaysisGCF samples were collected from orthodontic subjects (n=19) that bonded with SLB at week 0 (before force application) and at week 1-5 (after force application). Subjects received 1.0 N and 1.5 N of force either on the right or left side of maxilla arch. Enzymes assay and ELISA analysis were conducted. Pearson correlation test showed that there were no strong correlation and significant (p>0.05) between total enzyme and specific activity during orthodontic treatment for both forces used (1.0 N and 1.5 N) and for all enzymes markers studied; LDH (1.0 N, r=-0.28, p>0.05; 1.5 N, r=-0.08, p>0.05), AST (1.0 N, r=-0.49, p>0.05; 1.5 N, r=-0.08, p>0.05), TRAP (1.0 N, r=0.016, p>0.05; 1.5 N, r=0.48, p>0.05), ALP (1.0 N, r=-0.28, p>0.05; 1.5 N, r=-0.08, p>0.05). Therefore, enzyme activity approach is suitable compared to ELISA analysis to observe active biomarkers profiling during orthodontic tooth movement due to tooth movement process involved the role of enzymes active.
