- Abstract
A surgical nurse with a one year history of hand eczema reported immense itching and burning within minutes of donning latex gloves. She also reported of a recent episode of paroxysmal cough and bronchospasm at work. Patch test were positive with nickel sulfate and athylenediamine dihydrochloride. Patch tests with rubber additives and latex glove were negative. Prick-by prick test with fresh yellow pepper and chestnut yielded strong positive reactions. It was concluded that the patient first developed allergy to latex and subsequently an oral allergy syndrome to chestnut and pepper.
