- Abstract
The aim of the study was to present the specificity of energy-reduced products and to get to know the opinions and knowledge of the respondents on the consumption of light products with the specification of dairy products. Most of them had previously encountered the term low-calorie food, read the information contained on the labels, motivated by a desire to change their eating habits, curiosity, or habit in this respect and indicated that the consumption of light products is conducive to weight loss. Only a few (11%) included light products as functional foods. Nearly half of them were not aware of the health risks of ingredients added to light products, and 20% considered that they could be consumed without restrictions. When making purchasing decisions on light dairy products, the respondents listed taste, product composition and price as criteria. 55% of those surveyed indicated that they wanted to reach a fuller knowledge of the health aspects of low energy food consumption.
