- Abstract
The assignment was focus on reasoning about fractional amounts while focused on using reasoning only, to share how a student comparing fractions, without using equivalent fractions or may order a list of fractions. Looking at the continuum for Number in the section on parts ~ M84T (MATHEMATICS BY of a whole (Ontario Ministry of Education [OME], 2020a), one will notice that Grades 1 to 3 are focused on fractions; AND FOR TEACHERS): Grade 4 turns to fractions and decimals; and then Grades 5 FOCUSING ON FRACTIONAL to 8 look at fractions, decimals, and percentages. Although as adults we have often difficult it was to complete, to "unlearn" all she had put internalized common equivalent fractions, when students are together in her years of working with fractions, and to think first talking about fractions, they have not.
