- Abstract
One of the main problems of the electrical energy distribution companies is fault location in medium voltage networks, causing long periods of service interruption, a significant decrease of the quality of the service provided, and an excessive increase of losses due to energy supply shortage. Nowadays, the conventional solution involves using the electrical field technicians to find the circuit problems in a manual way based on the light signals emitted by fault indicators within the network. However, an automatic model, based on the geographical location system with the exact data on the fault location and a team of electrical field technicians, could be more efficient, because it would reduce the service recovery time. This article describes the search for the design and implementation of the intelligent system of geospatial location of electrical faults in medium voltage distribution networks, created by the Pixis Consultoría SAS Company.
