- Abstract
The article discusses the history of Elder Justice Act signed into law as part of Affordable Care Act on March 23, 2010. In 1950, the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare awarded demonstration projects for protective service units, viewed as unofficial starting point of the history of elder abuse as a policy issue followed later by 1961 White House Conference on Aging. In the 1970s, authorization for adult protective services was established under Social Security Act.
