- Abstract
The article describes research concerning the "Haute-Cuisine" system of gourmet restaurants and luxury foods in France which focused on analysis of installments of the gastronomical column of the newspaper "Le Figaro" from 1977, 1987, and 1997. According to the article, the "reading contract" or style of communication between journalists and readers has grown closer, with journalists expecting readers to be experts and more active in deciding between different types of cuisine experiences.
