- Abstract
The article examines the Athabaskan language family of North America with respect to inventory size and the serial founder effect. A background on Athabaskan languages covering homeland and internal structure, time depth, population size, and contact is provided along with expectations of their inventory sizes. A language comparison is presented involving consonant inventories, vowel inventory, and tones. An brief examination of the Athabaskan-Eyak-Tlingit grouping is also given.
