- Abstract
This article constitutes a theoretical approach to the use of Innovative Learning Environments (ILEs) as inclusive educational contexts in compulsory education. ILEs combine an innovative spatial design and innovative educational practices to promote educational inclusion and cater to the needs of students. The importance of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Accessible Universal Design for Learning (UDL-A) is highlighted as inclusive theories that can be applied in these environments, thus reinforcing the initial idea. As a conclusion, a series of characteristics are proposed, as a novelty, that these ILEs should have in order to be designed properly and facilitate the inclusion of all students.
