- Abstract
The article discusses the use of Zebrafish Danio rerio, a tropical freshwater fish, as a model to study the immune response against infection with the parasitic ciliate Ichthyophthirius multifiliis. It states that the particular antibodies from the fish skin have been demonstrated to bind the parasite and need to be regarded to present some protection. It mentions the marked upregulation of the gene for cytokine interleukin (IL)-4/13.
