- Abstract
The article reports on the need for phsicians to understand the challenges facing indigent glaucoma patients to deliver the best treatment, according to glaucoma expert Eve J. Higginbotham. Poor health literacy is a strong predicator of a person's health, she says. Higginbotham cites individuals who have limited to no access to health care, as well as barriers to health care facing these patients. Also included are ways in which physicians can overcome barriers to care with indigent glaucoma patients.
